First Grade! Preschool! Nap Time!

Jocelyn and Cecily started school yesterday. I think starting kindergarten is harder but it is an adjustment not having Jocelyn here all day and I worry about if she's happy, having fun and being nice.
Jocelyn took the whole back to school business very seriously. Making her own lunch, going to bed early (which didn't work the second night) getting the perfect outfit and hair.

FYI: Cecily loves secret bear the most now.

I love this photo of Jocelyn and her little friend. Her friend just saw she was in her class and they were giving each other a high five. I really like this friend cause she's so animated!
Photobucket

Cecily had gone right to the toy she played with during the meet the teacher day (top left corner you can see her.) I thought she would join her little friends. Oh well!
Photobucket

Getting up early Ash is ready for a nap by the time I take Cecily to preschool. Which means 2 1/2 hours are ALL MINE! Glorious Katie time that I used to get before Ash was born.

A "boom chick-a boom" according to Cecily. She was very happy and proud of it. If only I could get her to smile like this for every photo!

We can be Spontaneous too!

Chris and I took a spontaneous trip up to the ranch. Ditching all previous engagements to get out and have one last family getaway before school starts on Monday. In my rush (and brain lapse) I didn't grab my camera (which I know I had in my hand at one point!) So if we did have a camera with us here's what it would have looked like.

Chris was working a late day (til 7:30pm) at work and text me around 4pm to tell me we need to get out more. After some silly texts back and forth he divulges his true intentions, he wants to take a quick trip up to the ranch ditching my families back to school party, stake conference (which we vowed we would attend) his haircut appointment, a photo shoot. Seriously, there were tons of reasons we should not have left. But we did and it was the best trip to the ranch!
Photobucket
All packed up in the car.

A Smith cousin and his in laws were up at the ranch (which included someone in our ward and it was fun to hang with them for a bit!) They made a long zip line over the wash and Chris took Jocelyn on it. I didn't think she would do it since this same combination got her leg broken 2 years ago.
Photobucket

We took a trip into Snowflake to see the temple. Chris let the girls sit on his lap while we drove on the 2+ mile dirt road to the highway.
(the one photo I was able to get before my phone died!)

The Temple was beautiful but surprisingly small temple grounds so we were done there pretty quick.
Photobucket

We then went to an antique store that was also a little ice cream/flavored soda/sandwich shop. Really cute!
Photobucket

When we got back Chris, Jocelyn and the Smith crew went shooting. Chris shot a hole through a quarter with his new XD 40 M (I know no boys are reading this anyway to call me out on having no idea what his gun is really called.)
Photobucket
(Taken with Chris' phone to brag to his boy friends.)

Chris and I fell in love with the game rummy cube and it's fun because we both do really well at it.
Photobucket

Xena threw up a zillion times...ok Chris said 3 times. He was awesome and cleaned it up every time. I had to hear him gag though so that's just as bad.
Photobucket

While Ash had "Ash time" Chris took the girls on a walk. Caution to the reader, Cecily is the little girl to take a walk on with you when you need to relax and take time to enjoy life. She stops to smell every flower, pick up every rock and freak at every grasshopper (which were trying to eat her.)
Photobucket

It was the best, quick, quiet, relaxing trip ever! BRING ON SCHOOL!

My Green Gable Cast

The long awaited cast list for ANNE OF GREEN GABLES I could not think of who would make a good Gilbert. I'm still not entirely sold on my pick but Chris laughed at my first choice.

ANNE SHIRLEY
Amy Adams - Look at her, can't you just see her imagining the lake of shining water? She is.

GILBERT BLYTHE
Paul Rudd- I know it's hard to imagine him as Gilbert with recent roles in I Love You, Man! and Anchorman but I picked him because of his role in Clueless as Cher's older ex-step brother. Put your hand up if you had a crush on him?! Just me? Oh man!

DIANA BARRY
Liv Tyler - She's beautiful and I can see her and Amy Adams playing together splendidly!

MARILLA CUTHBURT
Helen Mirren- I picked her because I think she will be bale to portray the softer side of Marilla the other actress never really showed that is there in the book.

MATTHEW CUTHBURT
Bill Pullman- Alright, I know he's not as old as Helen Mirren but if you saw him in Phoebe in Wonderland you probably said what I said "He's gotten old!" And with make-up they can make him older. And I know he dies in the first book and I'm casting the sequel but I still think he should be mentioned and I don't know any other characters in the coming books.

So what do you think? Did I get it right? Who would you have cast?

Weezer Concert

August 7, 2002

I took the day off which ended up being a mistake cause I was too excited all day long and it went deathly slow.

Proof of how crazy I was
My roommate Elisa had this super cute black shirt that went PERFECTLY with my plaid pants that I HAD to wear to the concert. (Why plaid pants? I have no idea where I got the idea that Weezer = plaid pants.) Problem was, she lived in Sierra Vista so I called her on Monday when I got the confirmation from Chris that he was going to the concert and BEGGED her to mail the shirt that day so I could have it by Wednesday evening for the concert.
Somehow my obsession about plaid pants and my insistence on wearing them to the concert spread to Chris and when I went to pick him up he had gone and bought some!

We went and ate sushi for dinner. Tim picked the place. While we waited for Tim to arrive we got some time to chat and get to know each other.
Photobucket
{I scrapped these pages 4 years ago cause I had started a little scrapbook on our love story... never finished.}

The concert was amazing. Hometown Hero (awesome song at the time was Eighteen) was there and Dashboard Confessional (this is where my love for them began too!) Weezer of course put on a fantastic show and Chris and I had a grand ol' time throwing each others flip flops and laughing at the die hard fans. (I guess I didn't count cause I was wearing plaid pants.) Security was a B*#$# because you know... so I snuck in my disposable camera in my bra and scary security lady didn't notice. But when I developed the camera these were the only ones that turned out.

August 5, 2002

Two posts in one day?! Yes, it's true. I had to post my love story happenings for 7 years ago today. So for those not keeping count of the days August 5, 2002 landed on a Monday. I decided Chris needed to know this was business, and me never being scared to ask a boy out did the unthinkable and did...ask him... out.

My brother Timmy's birthday was on the 29th and I had bought tickets to the Weezer concert. I now wanted to ask Chris to come with us but there wasn't a 3rd seat by the pair I already bought and I couldn't take the ticket from Tim so... what to do?! Oh, just buy two more tickets so Tim could bring a date. Problem solved, I just need to ask Chris...

I thought it was so funny that Chris would tell me about his fax machine at work so I had the GENIUS idea of faxing him to ask him out. But I had to call him at work first to make sure his fax machine was in proper working order. The following is the correspondence between me and Chris.

Notes to reader of these faxes to properly understand.
1. I was a Nursury Teacher at the time.
2. M. Night Shyamalan is the director of Signs the movie we saw Saturday night. And Chris talked on and on about how fantastic he was.
3. Zimbabwe is the ice machine that polishes the ice at the rink. That's not really what it's called but that's what I called it Friday ice skating like the dork I am... hmmm...still can't think of the correct name.
4. Tim was supposed to see Signs with us too but bailed out last minute.
5. Chris likes to look for mistakes in movies and found on in Signs.
6. For some reason when we exchanged numbers ice skating night I made sure I got his cell, work AND fax number.

The fact that I wasn't totally disgusted by this last fax shows just how twitterpated I was. Any other guy I would have been turned off.

There you have it, the real documents of new love. Looking through these faxes today after not seeing them for years flooded me with those feelings of excitement I had that entire day we spent faxing each other.

What would a trip to the temple be without running around?

Jocelyn and Cecily's dresses are actually older girl shirts that I had my mom alter so they fit more like dresses. I made the headbands but did a very poor job.

This kid ran around so much we passed him around from person to person while we took pictures. You can tell he loves his uncles!
