So the trip went without a hitch. day one from AZ to NM was a quick one and we were in NM by 2pm enough time to take a nap, swim at the hotel pool, and snag some BBQ from Ruby's (thanks Reynolds for the recommendation).
Day two we started later because we were freaking exhausted from a weeks worth of 5 hour nights. The kids were a bit more tired and just a tinge more cranky but all and all they did great. We had Joc and Ash ride in the moving truck with me and Cec and Finn in the van with Kate. They played ipods/pads colored, read and listened to music. We saw some deer and antelope and some pretty nasty road kill.
The last two hours were the worst, Denver traffic was terrible and took forever. It worked out because all the ward members who were going to help us unpack couldn't come till later, so all the waiting in Denver rush hour helped us all get to the house at the same time. As unpacking went there were no major causalities, just one glass cooking dish that I broke when the box slipped from hands. I am pretty sure it was mine or Kate's moms so sorry Moms.
A week later we are just about unpacked. All the boxes are emptied and rooms set up all thats left is decorations and that stuff can wait a bit more. Oh yeah, and the garage, that can wait too. The weather has been fantastic. 70 80 during the day and nice and cool at night, we sleep with the windows open. It has been fun to have the kids enjoy playing outside without looking like they just sprinted across the Sahara.
We have lived outside in the yard and at local parks. This morning we packed up and headed to the mountains. I missed our turn off and ended up 10 miles from Wyoming but after a quick u turn we made it to Red Feather lakes. It was really cool (65) and windy but the sun was persistent and kept everyone warm. After lunch we chilled out by the beach, it took Ash a good 20 mins before he got in the water, he's coming along. It was a short and sweet trip, we are hoping to make it once a week venture.
Here comes the pic puke, thanks for checking us out.
