Christmas Break and the Grand Canyon

What a cool Christmas break we had. We were glad to see the kids back to school but we had fun while they were here. Chris took his two younger brothers, my brother, and three of my nephews to Six Flags for a day. It was a one day trip but they had so much fun. Chris came home thankful that we just have one son and not as much stink to look forward to.

Despite popular opinion Chris and I love Arizona. We love the people and places and boo hoo to those that thing we dont. In an effort to learn our kids all the reasons we love Arizona we decided to show them why its called the Grand Canyon State.

So last week we took the kids to the Grand Canyon. Chris and I have only been there a couple of times and wanted to start building exciting memories with our kids. We have decided that since we work from home that we will start to take tons of mini vacations started with the grandest of canyons.

We started our trip Tuesday afternoon and stay in a hotel with an indoor Jacuzzi which was fantastic because it was below freezing outside. So after we chased out the young couple and Asher almost drowned we had a very pleasant bubble time.

In the morning we hit up the Canyon. It always takes my breath away and Chris says he gets a bit emotional at its beauty. I wish we could have staying longer and to sit and watch the canyon sink lower in the earth but it was cold and windy and the littlens were not wanting to stay outside for any longer then they had to.

We spent most of the day on a tour bus going to the different museums and vantage points. We loved listening to all the people around us who had come from all over the world to see the wonder the Grand Canyon. Joc and Chris started a game to see who could find the license plate that had traveled the farthest and I thing Joc won with Connecticut.

All and all no one fell in and a hawk didn't take one of the kids so we chalked this trip up on our success list. Below are a few of the photos of our adventure.

Playing Joc Christmas game mousetrap. We ended up just setting off the trap 20 times, pretty sure that all anyone does when they play the game.

iPad how we love thee.

This is how we got Finn to stay asleep.

Breakfast. We gave the cleaning crew a serious workout.
What a fancy hotel with a luggage trolly.

Mom Dad and three girls... ahhh wait a second where's the boy. He's not taking the photo.

Fantastic. I like how my hair is trying to attack Ash.

Dont feed the squirrels.

Too cold to eat lunch outside.

"Hey there's my pretzels"- Ash

Joc came to us and told us her nose was doing Christmas colors.

Chris made me add this one. He says I look alluring and mysterious. I'm just glad I tweesed my brow.

Bus time is fun time

You cant see it but Ash is standing just like the guy behind him, he was really funny about it. Not sure what Joc is thinking.

A boy and his canyon

By the end everyone was getting really tired.

No exceptions to the tired.

So there ya go our fantastic trip to the Grand Canyon now we have three things in common with the Brady Bunch.

Stay tuned for our next installment, The great Train Ride.

  1. My favorite part is how Joc's leg is up on the table while playing mouse trap.
